Dear Younger Self
My chapter is entitled, Poems For My Soul. This chapter is the next edition (or follow-up) of my Love, Letters, Poetry and Art chapter in the book, Women Who Dream.
In this new chapter, I include poetry about love – illustrated with a few of my photographs – for my 28-year-old self. At age 28, I never had the chance to grieve, my fiancé, a French man named Michel.
Turning Point
My chapter is entitled, The Alchemy of Dying in Your Dreams: Messages from Beyond.
This book is filled with warm invitations for you to gently dive into your personal and professional empowerment. We invite you – to slow down and stop for a moment, to listen within, and to receive the hearts and souls of a circle of women who have shared their “Raw and Real” stories. Reading these stories reminds us to reclaim the essence of who we are.
Women Who Dream
In my chapter, for the first time, I am including excerpts of my deceased husband’s love letters to me. For nearly 20 years, I have kept much of our love story secret for privacy reasons. After giving it much thought and reflection, I have decided to share how his expression of written love helped our marriage. His words of love in writing sustained me throughout his bone marrow transplant, and after his death, they strengthened me during the grieving process.
It is my wish that his words will help inspire you to offer this type of precious gift to the people you love. My chapter includes the step by step process so that you can do this process on your own at home.
Psychological Trauma and Addiction Treatment
Important reading for current and future addictions treatment clinicians. This book synthesizes and integrates the expanding body of knowledge about combined trauma/addiction treatment to specifically address the needs of clinicians in addiction treatment environments
Here, in a single source, is an essential overview of trauma treatment for people in addiction treatment settings. Psychological Trauma and Addiction Treatment presents specific methodologies and techniques for clients in inpatient and outpatient addiction/mental health settings. The contributors leading clinicians and researchers in the field provide a comprehensive set of scientific treatment approaches addressing a broad spectrum of trauma disorders.
Integrative Addiction and Recovery
Integrative Addiction and Recovery offers an authentic model of comprehensive integrative modalities germane and specific to the field of addiction and recovery treatment. Although many treatment services for addiction include “holistic,” “alternative,” or “integrative” in their descriptions, they contain no substantive programs or services consistent with the mind, body, spirit paradigm contained within the integrative approach to health and healing. Consequently, many patients do not have the opportunity to benefit from the true spirit of an integrative approach within the discipline of addition and recovery medicine. This book sets the standard for a bona fide integrative approach for others to follow, providing information that is immediately useful in clinical practice and rigorously evidence-based.
