“Creativity is born out of spontaneity and tension.”
~ Rollo May
The creative and expressive arts are a particularly potent tool for clarifying your life, past history, strengths, talents, challenges, and your future dreams. They are also uniquely suited for forging connections to your subconscious, authentic core self, sleeping dreams, spirit, and for developing your intuition.
Potential road blocks to a fulfilling life are compulsions, addictions, unidentified or unhealed trauma, urges to use or act out, mood disorders, attachment issues, cognitive defenses, denial and various degrees and forms of dissociation.
In today’s world, it may be easier to schedule a half day intensive for a few days, once or once every few months, rather than commit to a 30 day residential or outpatient program, week-long workshops, or even weekly therapy for an hour or two when traffic, travel, family and work schedules are considered.
Doctor Ericha Scott offers dynamic experiential workshops specifically designed and tailored for your needs. These workshops embody the theories of several leaders in the field of creativity and expressive arts including Carl Jung, Rollo May, Robert Fritz, Susanne Fincher, Julia Cameron, Judith Rubin, and Dr. Scott’s own published theoretical work.
We will use a variety of healing practices to integrate your life story via journal letter, poetry and lyric writing, meditation, drawing/painting/sculpting, collage, and other expressive arts including drumming, authentic movement, mandalas, sand play therapy and the life-sized silhouette mandala (LSSM), also known as a body map.
A mandala is a drawing within a circle and according to Carl Jung, a symbol of wholeness. The LSSM: Like a mandala, the LSSM and other activities serve to integrate and liberate the whole of your life experience and polarized energies, in ways that redirect energy toward clearing road blocks that seemed invisible and/or insurmountable. The LSSM is a tracing of your whole body in silhouette form. This exercise is a perfect way to address the somatization of painful, even horrific life experiences in order to foster cognitive, spiritual, emotional and an autonomic nervous system release. Once these energies are freed, they may be used to shape new life goals and dreams.
You do not need to have skill, talent or even interest in the arts to benefit from the creative and expressive arts therapy processes. The creative and expressive arts therapies access parts of your brain and psyche that are often missed in talk therapy.
Please join me for a joyful and potentially life altering, transformative experience. Why not use creativity to create a new life?
